DESCRIPTION:The Vale in association with Nick Toczek presents… IN OTHER WORDS! The very best in performance poetry\nThe Line Up: \nMike Garry is a highly acclaimed and versatile poet. As a gritty performer-poet\, he’s supported many bands\, including I am Kloot\, Badly Drawn Boy\, and The Fall. and has toured the world with John Cooper Clarke since 2010. His musical collaborations have seen him working with New Order and Philip Glass. His Ode To St. Anthony\, a poem dedicated to the Factory Records boss Tony Wilson and put to classical music by the composer Joe Duddell\, went to Number 1 in three official UK charts in August 2015. He has also worked in thousands of schools and his books are used in education throughout the UK. Passionate about taking live poetry to places it wouldn’t normally reach\, he’s read his work in prisons\, young offenders institutions\, mental health hospitals\, children’s homes\, youth clubs\, and pubs. He’s an Associate Fellow and Artist in Residence at the University of Westminster in London and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Manchester Metropolitan University for his groundbreaking work with poetry in education. \n‘I love Mike Garry’s poetry.
