SUMMARY:Hydro Power Project
DESCRIPTION:Join Jon and the team to finalise work on our removable micro hydro generator in the stream behind our venue. \nBy the end of these sessions we hope to have the turbine which has been researched and tweaked over the last 18 months up and running. \nThere are lots of small and larger jobs to do to get this done and we’re keen for anyone with an interest to get involved. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and share knowledge as well as be creative. We will be doing some practical work\, mostly outside\, drilling\, fixing\, sawing\, cabling\, and some internet work. \nSessions will run fortnightly from Saturday 1st February until 15th March\, 1-3pm.\nIf it’s your first session\, please arrive from 12.45pm for a brew and a chat.\nTaking place between Studio 1 and the stream. Meet in Studio 1. \nActivities may include: \n\nFixing the cable conduit and running cables between the turbine and the annexe building.\nFixing and connecting 2 x CCTV cameras near the turbine. These are to monitor water levels\, potential flooding\, and for security.\nFitting the removable weir and feed pipe. This is to direct water into the turbine.\nReinforcing the stream bed near the weir to prevent damage during high rainfall. It’s been scoured quite a bit recently and needs some TLC and reinforcement.\nInstalling and testing the turbine generator version1.\n\nPlease note: this activity may include trip hazards\, wet\, muddy\, rainy time spent outside so dress appropriately with sturdy and waterproof footwear etc. \nAges 12+. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. \nIf you’d like more information beforehand or to be added to the WhatsApp group please email hello@the-vale.co.uk \nPLEASE NOTE: These sessions are intended to go ahead but may be cancelled due to adverse weather or because of other events happening. We hope to see you there! \nIf you’re interested in playing at our Sunday sessions then please do get in touch as we’d love to hear from you! \nOur house musicians will be playing a mixture of Latin and Brazilian vibes with an informal ‘Pagode’ style set with a unique Mossley flavour. \nWhat is Pagode? \nPagode is a type of samba originating in Rio de Janeiro\, Brazil. Distinguished by rhythmic improvisation\, its acoustic sound is created using a variety of percussion instruments\, song and string instruments such as Cavaquinho and guitar.\n \n  \nThis month’s special guest: Zenaida \n \nZenaida began when Amy met Pat while playing in a Bateria\, and they took the pulsing energy of their street band and poured it into a Brazilian Choro duo. As their shared love for music from all over Central and South America gathered momentum\, they began exploring music from Cuba\, Argentina\, Venezuela\, Uruguay\, as well as their beloved Brazil. \nWith Andy joining on Double Bass last year\, the trio immersed themselves in the canon of solo guitar music from the last hundred years and created unique interpretations of these stunning works.  \nZenaida will be playing music from their forthcoming EP Rococo Flourishes\, to be released early 2025. Featuring works by contemporary Cuban composer Eduardo Martin and Brazilian guitar legend Baden Powell. \nAmy Bowles (6 & 7 string Guitars) \nAndy Patterson (Double Bass) \nPat Selden (Percussion).

Each week we explore a different theme and work through a sequence of postures\, exploring how each one feels within the body before slowing down for a relaxing stretch and savasana (final resting pose).Wednesday 6-7pm Vinyasa Flow (all levels welcome)\nDon’t be intimidated by the name – Vinyasa simply means moving with the breath. We will explore a new theme every week and move through a sequence with the breath allowing us to enter a fluid\, meditative state of movement. Options\, advancements and modifications will be offered which means that this class is suitable for everybody from beginners to advanced practitioners. \n\n\nClasses primarily take place in Studio 1 at The Vale which has step free access. DESCRIPTION:Join Jon and the team to finalise work on our removable micro hydro generator in the stream behind our venue. \nBy the end of these sessions we hope to have the turbine which has been researched and tweaked over the last 18 months up and running. \nThere are lots of small and larger jobs to do to get this done and we’re keen for anyone with an interest to get involved. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and share knowledge as well as be creative. We will be doing some practical work\, mostly outside\, drilling\, fixing\, sawing\, cabling\, and some internet work. \nSessions will run fortnightly from Saturday 1st February until 15th March\, 1-3pm.\nIf it’s your first session\, please arrive from 12.45pm for a brew and a chat.\nTaking place between Studio 1 and the stream. Meet in Studio 1. \nActivities may include: \n\nFixing the cable conduit and running cables between the turbine and the annexe building.\nFixing and connecting 2 x CCTV cameras near the turbine. These are to monitor water levels\, potential flooding\, and for security.\nFitting the removable weir and feed pipe. This is to direct water into the turbine.\nReinforcing the stream bed near the weir to prevent damage during high rainfall. It’s been scoured quite a bit recently and needs some TLC and reinforcement.\nInstalling and testing the turbine generator version1.\n\nPlease note: this activity may include trip hazards\, wet\, muddy\, rainy time spent outside so dress appropriately with sturdy and waterproof footwear etc. \nAges 12+. His music beautifully expresses complex emotion\, mastery and maturity with a unique yet instantly recognisable sound moving flamenco into a new exciting era. \nFrom Granada\, Ramón was trained in Seville’s renowned flamenco tablao ‘Los Gallos’ by a generation of world famous flamenco artists. After many years of working in Spain\, across Europe and touring internationally\, he continues to develop his art from London – followed by a new international and very current audience. \nWith extraordinary dexterity and musicality in both traditional and contemporary stylistic genres\, Ramón recently recorded his third album Calle Lunga in Abbey Road Studios London. It includes all original compositions and arrangements and was inspired by his journey of nearly 40 years mastering flamenco guitar internationally. \nRebeca Ortega has her base in Seville where she releases her recent production “RAÍCES” at Teatro La Fundición\, dances at tablao Los Gallos\, Tablao Flamenco de Sevilla and peñas flamencas like Torres Macarena and teaches flamenco dance classes\, while combining her unceasing touring which has lead her to perform in Spain\, Portugal\, England\, Scotland\, Wales\, France\, Belgium\, Germany\, Norway\, Denmark and Switzerland to give performances\, workshops and conferences. \nShe has a long formation including Flamenco\, Classical Spanish Dance\, Ballet and contemporary dance at prestigious dance schools like Professional Dance Conservatory of Seville\, or flamenco most renown schools\, “Amor de Dios” in Madrid\, “Flamenco Danza” in Seville. \nCarlos Lobo is an extremely talented artist with deep flamenco roots. He works regularly in tablaos in his native Seville alongside the top flamenco artists in Spain. He regularly tours Europe joining the Scottish National Opera and then to the Welsh National Opera for the play Ainadamar by Osvaldo Golijov. He joined the dance groups from the contemporary University of Cádiz and later joined the Dance Company “Passages” in Nantes\, France. He also explored the theatre\, participating in the ‘El Carromato’ company in Spain and the Thêatre Company “LaRuche” in France. \nTickets £15.00.
