He is one of the country’s leading Stride\, New Orleans and Blues pianists. He has a new solo piano album and is performing solo piano shows throughout the UK. The music is inspired by the great New Orleans pianists Dr John\, James Booker\, Professor Longhair and Jelly Roll Morton but is very much Henry’s own creation and includes repertoire by such diverse artists as Jimi Hendrix\, The Prodigy\, The Beatles and Iggy Pop. Foot-tapping goodness not to be missed! \nCoruja Jones \nAlso joining us ahead of his upcoming new EP launch is Coruja Jones\, accompanied by trusty guitarist Jake Stentiford. Coruja Jones is a songwriting project from Manchester (UK) based musician and songwriter Dan Jones\, originally hailing from Dudley in The West Midlands. \nDescribed by Tom Robinson (BBC6 Music) as “deft and assured”\, Coruja Jones’ music offers dreamy\, melancholic\, indie-folk delivered through beautiful songs with soaring high notes\, combined with intricate\, delicate guitar work into cavernous reverbs\, plus killer grooves\, which take aim at your heart.  \n2024 sees the release of his next record\, ‘Undo’. DESCRIPTION:Join Grupo Lokito for a dance workshop with the live band. Iddo Donnatella\, singer and dancer with the band\, will guide you through the basics of Congolese dance\, with its distinctive hip movements. They will then teach you some of the classic Congolese dance moves and share some of Grupo Lokito’s own inventions. The perfect warm up before dancing the night away at their performance later in the evening. \nAll levels welcome. We want this to be accessible for all\, if you have any access requirements please contact The Vale to let a member of the team know prior to the event. \nTickets for the dance workshop are £7.50. A combined workshop and gig ticket are available on the Grupo Lokito event page. There are also a limited number of ‘donate what you can’ tickets available on a first come first served basis. Live entertainment at its best.’ – Chilli Fiesta \nThe Vale is delighted to welcome the dazzling Grupo Lokito who fuse contemporary Congolese and Cuban music creating a modern day cocktail of two of the great world musics. \nThe glorious melodious vocals of Congolese front men Eugene Makuta and Iddo Donnatell blend with soaring guitars courtesy of guitarists Kenyan rising star Shama Shah and Congolese legend Ladi Mbala and the lilting keyboards of Latin piano player Sara McGuinness. All of this sits on top of the rhythmic powerhouse of Ernesto Marichales(drums)\, Emeris Solis (Congas) and Jimmy Martinez (Bass). \nSince their formation in 2006 the band have gone from strength to strength\, completing several UK tours and building a solid following. As if the groove weren’t enough\, the band have developed a rapport with their audiences which gets everyone up on their feet. This was reflected in the band being names ‘Tropical Act of The Year 2017’ by the UK Lukas Awards. \nWant to get involved yourself? Grupo Lokito will be running a Congolese dance workshop before the show!
