SUMMARY:Mr B's Probably Accurate Hip Hop History Tour + Gideon Conn
DESCRIPTION:After years of twisting Hip-Hop to his Chap-Hop will\, Mr.B finally brings you the full story of Rap as only he can tell it – Straight Out Of Surrey. \nMr.B invented Chap-Hop in 2007\, having spent years as a Britrap hitmaker (anyone remember ‘Eat My Goal’?) and performing with such luminaries as Grandmaster Flash and Gravediggaz. Since then he has travelled the world\, from The Royal Albert Hall to Osaka\, Banstead to Berlin\, Manchester to Minneapolis\, Norway to New York and the Edinburgh Fringe to Glastonbury. \nThe album accompanying this tour will be his fifteenth. His videos have garnered millions of views on YouTube and his media appearances have included rapping for Jeremy Paxman on Newsnight\, playing live on BBC Radio One for Rob Da Bank\, Nick Grimshaw & Scott Mills\, on Radio Two for Claudia Winkleman & Steve Lamacq\, 6 Music for Tom Robinson & Shaun Keaveny\, Radio Four with Diane Morgan\, discussing Hip-Hop on Romesh Ranganathan’s podcast and rhyming for Zoe Ball on Sky Arts. \nEqual parts rapper\, banjolele maverick\, storyteller\, beatmaker and dandy\, his ‘Probably Accurate Hip-Hop History Show’ is packed with interpretations of rap favourites and original songs. It will amaze with previously unknown facts\, stories\, fly dancing and maybe just a bit of guessing. \nMr.B always entertains\, educates and informs…and sometimes slightly fibs. \n \n  \n\n‘Hip-Hop comedy genius’ – The Telegraph \n‘Hilarious’ – The Independent \n‘The Home Service meets Run DMC’ – Evening Standard \n‘Warm\, funny\, articulate and quietly very angry’ – Something Good \n‘Too funny and dope’ – Nile Rodgers (Chic) \nSupporting Mr B will be Manchester’s Gideon Conn\, who brings his unmistakable blend of jazz\, soul\, hip hop and hard musical nonsense to The Vale. Now two decades into a constantly evolving career\, his sharp songwriting is fuelled by everyday observations\, often gathered during shifts at the hardware store where he still works part‑time. With a fifth album on the horizon\, expect a set full of warmth\, wit and genre‑skipping creativity. \n \nPlease note this event has an age restriction of 14+ \n\nUnder 18s must be accompanied by an adult. \nDoors 7:30pm \nTickets: £18* \nThis is a standing show\, however we can provide a limited number of seats for those who need them. If you require a seat or have any other accessibility requirements\, please get in touch before the show via hello@the-vale.co.uk \n*A limited number of donate what you can tickets are available on a first come first served basis. SUMMARY:Transglobal Underground + support
DESCRIPTION:Few acts in the UK can demonstrate such a profound influence\, a multifaceted legacy\, and carry such a mysterious legendary status as Transglobal Underground. \nFrom their origins in the dance scene in the early 90s they became one of the country’s best loved festival bands\, a techno sound system\, a pop group\, a club night\, a Middle Eastern hit production team\, an improvised study group for Indian classical music\, an Albanian brass band\, a duo..or was it an octet?… \nTransglobal Underground exploded onto the club scene with the club classic ‘Temple Head’ a track with inspiration taken from the UK bhangra scene\, with one foot in the Madchester and indie worlds\, and another in club music. The mix was totally new (DJs loved it but couldn’t work out what speed to play it at) and the track is still regularly played on the radio today. \nThe collective went on to practically create a new genre with a series of albums mixing a heady concoction of club grooves\, dub\, bhangra\, rock\, digital hardcore and oriental melody\, driven by the possibilities of musical technology\, inspiration and a belief in the need to create something that kept others looking for the next level of global experimentation. \nMore than 30 years on\, Transglobal Underground continues to fill venues across Europe\,and we can’t wait to welcome them to The Vale this November! \nLineup \nTUUP: Vocalist\, percussionist\, one of the UK’s leading storytellers \nHAMID MANTU: founder member\, drums\, percussion \nSHEEMA MUKHERJEE: sitar\, bass (Cornershop\, Imagined Village) \nRAV NEIYYAR: tabla\, dhol (Bollywood Band\, Diamond Cut) \nTIM WHELAN: founder member\, keyboards\, machines \n \n“The collisions are as glorious as ever….swaggering … a classic TGU mix of soul\, rap\,\nelectronica and bliss” – FINANCIAL TIMES \n“The Brit-Asian collective boldy go where no psychedelic\, drum and bass\, funk\, punk\, dub\, global beatists have gone before” – INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY \n“The most irresitable rhythms to which anyone with soul can dance”- THE TIMES \n“This musical collective have dipped in and out of fashion\, but the new album finds them on inventive form” – GUARDIAN \n“A pan-European journey you’ll want to embark on at length” – SONGLINES\n \nPlease note this event has an age restriction of 14+ \nUnder 18s must be accompanied by an adult. \nDoors 7:30pm \nTickets: £20* \nThis is a standing event with accessible seating. If you require a step-free seat please get in touch when booking before the show via hello@the-vale.co.uk \n*A limited number of donate what you can tickets are available on a first come first served basis.
