It’s the perfect early Christmas gift to enjoy with the whole family.\n \nThree years in the making\, Lotte Reiniger’s beautiful 1926 silhouette animation brings to life magical tales from the Arabian Nights. The earliest surviving animated feature film – it has been hailed as one of the world’s most innovative and influential animations. Made in card\, cut entirely by hand\, and then manipulated using sheets of lead joined by wires\, Reiniger’s exquisite shadow characters move intricately through colourful worlds of demons\, witches\, beautiful princesses and flying castles. \nMusician\, Chris Davies reinvigorates the film with his skilful composition and live performance using a spectacular array of instruments from around the World to accompany Prince Achmed’s journey from the Middle East\, to Africa\, China and beyond. \nYou will also have the opportunity to meet some of Global Grooves’ larger than life puppets\, and learn the basics of puppeteering with your friends and family. This short film is the last in Kurosawa’s collection of eight shorts called ‘Dreams’. All eight films are actual dreams that Kurosawa had at different points in his life. This film shares a dream of hope from Kurosawa’s mind. \n  \n-The Power of Water\, 2022\, NHPBS \na Public Service Broadcasting Film from the USA. It tells the story of Bob King\, a New Hampshire entrepreneur\, whose life’s work has been rehabilitating abandoned dams to produce clean energy. A window into the history of hydropower in New England\, the ongoing energy transition\, the importance of land conservation\, and how we all can be part of the solution as we face these challenges together. \n  \nThe Water Holds Me / The Water Binds Us\, 2021\, Lily Mae Kroese\nLily Mae Kroese is a filmmaker specialising in animation\, illustration\, and writing. Her work is characterised by a unique blend of traditional and digital methods\, creating a handmade feel that engages viewers with the creative process. Drawn from research with the wild swimming community across the UK\, this short film is based on the stories of women who dip\, dive and swim in rivers\, lakes and seas. \n  \nSpeakers: \nHear from Mossley’s own waterways champion\, Sam from Reclaim river Tame and his journey to swim the Tame to highlight pollutants in our river. \nTake a peak at The Vale’s own micro hydro generator and hear from the team behind it.  \n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\nWe offer a ‘Donate What You Can’ pricing structure so that everyone can join us.
