SUMMARY:Film Screening and Workshop: 'Sun Beams; stories of the sun'
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a screening of three sun drenched films in our solar powered venue space.  \nAs a venue we are aiming to generate enough power to run our music and cinema screening venue solely on solar power! You can track our progress here.   \nTo celebrate the summer sun and its power we are screening  We the Power: The Future of Energy is Community-Owned\, Burning in the Sun and Catching the Sun and a short film. \n  \n\nSunflower gleaning workshop with Jayne 6-7pm \nHold onto your sunflowers and ornamental plants after their best days in the sun and bring them along for a gleaning workshop with our resident permaculturist Jayne. Turn seeds into bird feed\, seed bombs or keep them to share at our seed and plant swap at Carnival Flow on the 7th September.  \n  \n\n6pm Sunflower seed gleaning with Jayne \n7pm Doors (Bar open) \n7.30pm Films \n8.30pm Q&A and grab a drink \n9.30pm Ends \n  \n– 300 Days of Sun: Communities Power Their Own Future\, 2022\, Jude Chehab \nLebanon faces daunting economic and energy problems. Citizens are looking to the sun — not the government — for solutions. \n  \n– Burning in the Sun\, 2010\, Cambria Matlow and Morgan Robinson \nSeizing the moment at a crossroads in his life\, Daniel decides to return to his homeland in Mali and start a local business building solar panels — the first of its kind in the sun-drenched nation. Daniel’s goal is to electrify the households of rural communities\, 99% of which live without power.  \n  \n– We the Power: The Future of Energy is Community-Owned\, 2021\, David Garrett Byars\n \nImagine upending the traditional energy system and giving the power of clean electricity production back to your neighbours. We the Power follows friends\, families and visionaries as they break down legislative barriers and take power back from big energy companies to put it in the hands of locals and strengthen their towns. The film chronicles local cooperatives from deep in Germany’s Black Forest to the streets of ancient Girona in Spain and the urban rooftops of London\, England\, as they pave the way for a renewable energy revolution and build healthier\, financially stable communities. \n  \nSpeakers: \nHear from Mossley Community Energy about how to get involved in their new project. \n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\nWe offer a ‘Donate What You Can’ pricing structure so that everyone can join us. A suggested donation is £3-5 film screening tickets\, and £10 combined\, if you are able to do so.  \nThere are a limited number of combined tickets for the film screening and sunflower and seed gleaning available.
