Join us at The Vale to celebrate our 4th birthday! Enjoy a day of free creative Carnival activities and taster sessions from local community groups. Continue into the evening for music and mayhem at our 4th Birthday Bash! (14+)
Yoga Session from Flow & Glow Yoga: 9 – 10am
Come along and try a relaxing beginners yoga session with Flow & Glow Yoga Co. Suitable for all levels, this 60 minute class will start with gentle meditation and breathwork followed by a beginner friendly flow, moving through a sequence of postures and exploring how each one feels within the body before slowing down for a relaxing stretch and savasana (final resting pose).

Music & Movement & Workshop 10.30 – 11.30 am
Join us for a family friendly Carnival movement workshop! Start off your Saturday with a shimmy and a shake by learning a short Carnival routine with dance artist Olivia Peers (Born & Bread Dance Theatre). To make the workshop even more exciting, you’ll be accompanied by live music from our Global Grooves young musicians, led by Holly Prest (Jubacana).

Mossley Writers – 11am – 12 noon
Do you enjoy expressing your creativity through writing? Come along to a Mossley Writers taster session and put pen to paper. The workshop will start with a fun ice braker activity, you’ll then help to write the ending for a dramatic storyline, before moving on to try your hand at writing your own piece with guidance and support. (This will take place in an upstairs room and therefore isn’t a fully accessible space.)

Ride Out Loud Story Trail: Time TBC
Ride Out Loud will be running a story trail again. Follow the two Giants, a Saddleworth folktale written by Tori Burgess, music by Jake Fletcher and illustrated by Lizzie Rigby.
Start and Finish point will be at our pedal powered story tent where you can come and pedal a fixed bike to generate the power needed to listen to the story or make your very own giant’s beard!’
Bike heights -suitable for ages 6+
Stilt Walk Taster with Full Stilt: 12.00 – 1.30pm
Try your hand at Stilt walking with resident stilt company, Full Stilt.
These two 45 minute taster sessions will give you a chance to see what the view is like at 2-3 feet taller, finding the balance and joy of stilting.
For safety reasons this activity is only recommended for those 5 Feet tall and above and over 12 years old.

Drum and dance with Juba do Leão! 2pm – 3.30pm
Age range 14+
Join the percussionists and dancers of Juba do Leão for a whistle stop tour of the beats and moves of Brazil in this ‘Juba Jam’ taster workshop. Enjoy learning an hour of drumming or dancing, and look forward to a further 30 minute combined session with both art form groups sharing their learning in a final jam together. Instruments are provided. Due to the sound levels and workshop content, this session is only suitable for anyone aged 14+. Use the form below to sign up!
And if you can join us for our birthday gig night as well starting at 7:30pm on the same day, you can join in with some of the Brazilian Portuguese singing or dance moves you’ll learn in the workshops during the day!
