The Sidiki Dembélé Ensemble brings together a collective of virtuoso West African musicians, each classically trained and deeply rooted in the musical traditions of their homeland. With a fluid line-up that shifts and evolves, the ensemble is always led by master percussionist, kora player, composer and arranger Sidiki Dembélé — a dynamic artist renowned for his spellbinding performances and innovative fusions of sound. Performing a rich blend of original compositions and traditional pieces, the ensemble creates a sound world where ancestral rhythms meet contemporary artistry. The result is a performance that is haunting, explosive, and profoundly uplifting — an unforgettable live experience that resonates both musically and spiritually.
Previous tours have taken the group across the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, and France, captivating audiences with their virtuosic interplay and emotional depth. In 2024, the ensemble collaborated with Sinfonia Cymru on Yiriba — a ground breaking project that seamlessly wove together European classical and West African classical forms, expanding the boundaries of cross-cultural performance. In August 2025, the ensemble appeared at the prestigious Edinburgh International Festival, delivering a powerful performance that showcased their unique blend of musical traditions to international acclaim. Wherever they appear, the Sidiki Dembélé Ensemble brings audiences on a journey of rhythm, beauty, and transcendence — a celebration of the timeless power of music to connect worlds.
