  • Walks and movement activities
  • Snacks and lunch
  • A certificate of completion of our ‘Coding for Good’ course

About Us
Global Grooves is a Carnival arts organisation, performing in and with communities. We are based in Mossley at our home, The Vale, a former textile mill we’ve transformed into a hub for artists, live music, Carnival creations and much more. We run regular workshops for young people including our highly successful Future Leaders programme for 12-25 year olds and many of our practitioners are graduates
of the course.

One of our key aims as a venue is to make our building and our work as sustainable as possible. With funding from UKRI and the Young Foundation through the Community Knowledge Fund we have been researching and exploring a micro-hydro generator in the stream behind The Vale. Using this as a platform for the course we’ll be exploring the coding possibilities and practical applications for tech in utilising, sharing, and explaining the renewable technology. We’ll also enjoy Carnival arts such as drumming to develop learning beyond the computer desk.

Dates:

  • Mon- Thursday
  • 12th-15th August
  • 10am-2pm

Address:

  • Unit 2, Vale Mill, Micklehurst Road, Mossley, OL5 9JL

Eligibility:
We are partnering with Stalybridge Coderdojo to offer this course primarily to young people (ninjas) that attend the dojo regularly. We know from the organisers that this group are already engaged in coding and want to offer an outlet for this interest with a ‘real world’ application. We’re also opening this opportunity to local young people based in Tameside, Saddleworth and Oldham aged 7-12 years of age.

How to apply:

Apply using the form at the bottom of this page.
